Sugar Rushed: New Pop Reviews: Beyonce, Scouting for Girls, Parade .

New Pop Reviews: Beyonce, Scouting for Girls, Parade and more!

Class on Toast
Beyonce - "Best Thing I Never Had"
I suppose most fans would be set to accept that "Girls (Who Run the World)" was not just the most exciting Beyonce single ever.

It's cunning and fun, and girl power anthems are always welcome (to refuse this would be to refuse the doctrine of the Spice Girls, which of track would be equivalent to sacrilege). But "Girls" is so distractingly cacophonous, and somewhat shapeless in its melody, that it simply isn't the best B is subject of.

Hence, it's fairly exciting to see her back promptly with a no-holds-barred, pissed-off breakup ballad in the ilk of "Irreplaceable" crossed with "Resentment," and a welcome dash of that sarcastically arch attitude that fueled Rihanna's "Take a Bow."When Beyonce goes full-out, guns-blazing into a power ballad, it's invariably a startlingly gorgeous sound, and this is no exception.

Scouting for Girls - "Love How it Hurts"
On a sentimental level, this is probably my favorite song in this blog entry.I think really, as an opening line, one can't do better than "I've been waiting all my life / For someone like you to come deal with my mind." Perfection!

What "This Ain't a Love Song" did for self-esteem-boosting breakup songs, "Love How it Hurts" does for the festivity of bittersweet, angsty lurve. And the picture is comparable a mini-Nick Hornby flick, which just adds to the awesome.

Cheese on Toast
Parade - "Perfume"
We're experiencing quite the girl group resurgence these days, and one of the more charming new acts is surely Parade.Following up their sugarlicious debut "Louder" with the equally infectious "Perfume," the girls are ticking off all of the Girl Group Glory boxes as they go along (a heartfelt ballad should probably function as the following single). The picture has the ladies' amazingness on full display, and care most of the current girly acts, Parade of course includes among their members The One Who Wears Glasses. This is a wondrous new trend because as clearly evidenced by the items perched on my nose at this very moment, girls who wear glasses are cool.

The Wanted - "Glad You Came"
Sure, it's not mount the man on fire or reinventing the wheel, or lending new significance to any other cliches for that matter. But much care the old single "Gold Forever," it's sweet, catchy, laid-back, happy about living in general, and well, just has a big title, let's face it.

Trash on Toast
"Sugababes" - "Freedom"
Granted, the full song hasn't been released yet, but we've been given a sneak peek via an extremely bizarre Nokia tie-in ad perched uncomfortably between cool and disturbing in its doll imagery. It's been a long time since the "Sugababes" (rightly dubbed as such by Pop Justice due to the absence of Keisha Buchanan in this newest lineup) put some music out.On the one hand, it's decent to hear Heidi and Amelle again, though talented as she is, Jade's vocals still look out of space and have changed the harmony so often that those quotation marks have to stick roughly the group's cite as far as I'm concerned.

Like "About a Girl" and "Wear My Kiss" before it, the "Sugababes" output - at its best - is enjoyable Trash on Toast, but fails to rise to anything worthy of being mentioned in the same intimation as the actual Sugababes.

The dolls are so incredibly weird.

Awwww!
